no complaints about an early post

May 8, 2006

to fill you in on my day so far: woke up, started studying, showered, etc. Home is kinda distracting so I decided to go to lunch and then to the library. Well, i got in the car at 11:30 and NOTHING happened. I quickly diagnosed it as a battery problem (the clock had reset and the oil/brake/etc lights were very slow to come on) so i walked to the battery/tire store. $85 later, i did the “world’s strongest man: Augusta” 15th street battery haul and got some tools out of my apartment. of course, the negative battery terminal nut was corroded and stripped itself in about 1 second. So i removed the uncorroded bolts to the metal piece that grounds the battery to the chassis, took the + terminal off (fortunately it wasn’t rusted) and removed the old nasty battery. Next step was chiseling the - terminal off the old battery (remember it’s still connected) with a leatherman and replacing it back on the chassis. The new battery went in without too many problems, and i loosely connected the - terminal (remember, i can’t tighten the nut because it’s gone from 10mm to about 8.5mm and i can’t get a socket on it). Finally, after the car started up like a champ, i drove to the battery place to turn in my old battery, drove to krystal, ate a long-overdue lunch, and here I am at the library. I was done with the battery change at 12:30 and eating by 12:40.
So, I’ve decided to drop out of med school and become a mechanic.
The weekend was too short. I’ll write about it in my update tomorrow.
studying sucks, especially when you have to study everything you’ve been taught this year.
