tuesday AM update
Section 1: dodgeball recap
I improved my Kill Ratio (by not getting eliminated from every single game) and my retention ratio slightly. I felt like I made some good quality throws (kept them low, even if they missed), some great dodges (especially when they’re throwing 4 balls at the same time, it’s an intimidating technique), and just enough taunting to enable others to make good throws.
We really do need to get some dodgeballs and set up cones and practice throwing. But then again I’m a little bored with studying and that just sounds a lot more fun. EDIT: link below in a comment, but the official amateur dodgeball association (dodgeballusa.com wants $20 PER BALL. It’s not worth that.)
I need to get some new shoes with some tread on them.
My conditioning program is helping me feel better about myself, but probably doesn’t help my dodgeball performance at all. Still if i’m becoming more agile and nimble then that’s gotta help. I need to jump rope or something like that. This morning, I ran sprints up my driveway (to work on the initial acceleration) and that was a nice change from the normal jogging routine.
Section 2: rest of the weekend
Friday contained a Garcia’s spinach quesadilla and beer (to compensate for my 4 burger patty day earlier in the week), followed by hanging out at Katie’s. Saturday: WaHo in the AM (see I’m alternating Cholesterol days), poolside at the pointe, and a venture up to the Varsity (traffic problems, I don’t want to talk about it). After that, we ate Salmon Burgers and salad and fruit and then we went to see the DaVinci Code. It was good, not excellent, but worth seeing (caveat: I haven’t read the book). As some of us decided, you won’t regret buying a student ticket. Sunday was a very productive day: poolside at the Pointe day 2, lots of errand running (on a very firm schedule that we managed to follow despite the spilling of some OPI nail polish at Ulta3), then dodgeball (previously described), Willy’s, and Sopranos. Season finale is June 4th, it feels like the show just started…and i know a ton of stuff has happened, but it doesn’t feel like there have been any monumental episodes this season.
Section 3: this week and misc. links
I’m 2/2 on morning running (although i changed it up today, I’m still giving myself credit) this week. I watched the season finale of 24 at the Pointe last night, it was good and (of course) there’s some suspense going into the January 2007 next season.
I’m at the library listening to audio review files and also relearning neuroanatomy. This stuff is terrible.
The General Hospital message board poster is here today. My world is back to normal.
2-man Hovercraft (from uncrate)
New York Times article about a judge who is releasing prisoners in New Orleans because there’s not enough Public Defenders (so people are being held without a trial because they don’t have a lawyer).
I actually support this. It shows at the very least that some people still believe in the Constitution. Circumstances should not prevent due process of law. In the absence of funding for public defenders, it is unethical and unconstitutional to detain suspected criminals until the economy gets back on its feet and people resume contributing to the public defense fund. Anyway that’s about it for my views on the subject. Let me know what you think (if you have an opinion).
